INSTITUTE OF MEDIEVAL AND POST-MEDIEVAL STUDIES
The Vision and Goals of IMPMS
Goal and Objectives of IMPMS:
Institute of Medieval and Post-Medieval Studies was established in 2001, incorporated in 2009, and obtained tax-exempt status in 2012. Initially, the main goal of the Institute of Medieval & Post-Medieval Studies (IMPMS) is to help generate a climate of mutual understanding and respect between Muslims and people of other faiths and cultures. In this way, we aim to correct the concept of the dark ages when Muslim scholars and scientists enlightened the world with their original scientific contribution and quelled what has been labeled as a clash between Islamic and Western civilizations. In pursuit of this goal, IMPMS seeks to reach out to people of all faiths with information about the significant contributions and contributors of the Islamic world in many fields of science and arts. This is accomplished by presenting at national and international conferences, circulating newsletters, and developing a website.
In 2018, IMPMS collaborated with DiscoverSTEM. This organization prepares young students to develop critical and analytical skills, problem-solving, and creativity. The goal is to prepare students for admission to prestigious universities and colleges. The organization also mentors students to think like innovators, identify the world's problems, and innovate patent-able STEM solutions to these problems. This organization aims to motivate and inspire students, gain knowledge from past innovators, and create the innovators of tomorrow. IMPMS is an institution driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.
IMPMS knows that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding, we have been determined to make an impact.
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring unique, creative, analytical perspectives and are willing to take risks. IMPMS emerged from a pursuit to inspire and support the community and a desire for actions to speak louder than words.
